My client manages an asset base of 8.0 billion dollars, employs over 4,500 people and has an electricity network that stretches from the coast to the outback. The Role:  There are two roles; both are PM3 level 3 - 6 month contract positions for experienced Senior Civil and Building Design Engineers who will be responsible for a team of engineers and paraprofessionals specialising in the design and construction of substations, power stations, communication facilities and other distribution infrastructure. Reporting to the Principal Engineer - Civil & Building, your role can be based in any of the following locations; Cairns, Townsville or Toowoomba.  The successful candidate will be required to FIFO to Cairns as and when required.  A design based role for civil and building projects, your responsibilities will also include providing leadership to direct reports, undertake and/or lead complex engineering analysis, formulate standards, guidelines and procedures within the Civil and Building Group whilst coordinating design and construction of civil and structural works within substations, remote power stations and communications sites, ensuring optimum co-ordination with electrical and mechanical plant and systems. Qualification Required: To apply for this role you must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural) acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category, and it is essential that you have RPEQ status or provide evidence that you are progressing towards obtaining this status. Experience Required: You will have proven leadership and project management skills. You should have expert knowledge of Civil and Structural construction techniques, and demonstrate expert knowledge of engineering calculations and analysis techniques.  A demonstrated knowledge of electrical infrastructure utilised in substations and power stations is desirable, however not essential.
