Please only consider this role if you hold the following qualifications; Master IV Open unrestrickted MED 3, 2 or 1 AMSA Medical STCW 95 GMDSS The above must also be recognised by Queensland Maritime. In this role, you will have the best of both worlds; living in Brisbane with their family working a 7.30am - 2.30pm job on Monday to Friday with regular stints on a seagoing dredger throughout the year working 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. The primary role is the Master Support Craft position based in Brisbane - attracting an annual salary. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE Ensure the safe navigation and operation of the vessel in both confined waters and open sea situations during duty watch in association with the Manager Dredging Brisbane during day watch and the other Dredgemaster during night watch. Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency of the dredging equipment on the vessel. KEY DUTIES Proactively adopt and implement the company's health and safety standards and procedures. Contribute to the achievement of zero harm by reporting hazards, near misses, illnesses and injuries for immediate resolution. Navigate the vessel safely and efficiently in both confined waters and open sea during the dredging operations. Conduct the dredging operations in accordance with the Manager Dredging TSHD Brisbane and Project Leader's instructions. Carry out dredging operation related to pipes and pumps, bottom dumping and pump out shore discharge procedures. Coordinate with the Manager Dredging/Manager Engineering TSHD Brisbane and supervise where required regarding deck and dredge equipment repair and maintenance requirements Assist as required with vessel survey requirements, e.g. load line, thickness testing, inspection tours with marine surveyors. Log entries to the Manager Dredging TSHD Brisbane's logbook and record all stages of the dredge cycle and other relevant data to the electronic dredging log. Participate as required in the Shipboard Management and Safety Committee. Proactively adopt and implement the company's health and safety standards and procedures. Contribute to the achievement of zero harm by reporting hazards, near misses, illnesses and injuries for immediate resolution. Take responsibility for crew safety and training, task planning and the safe operation of allocated vessels according to Masters Certificate limits and area of operation. Ensure the Ships Management System and the Emergency and Risk Management manuals are updated and reviewed. Complete the vessels programmed maintenance schedule and craft husbandry routine to maximise the vessels availability and appearance, Provide weekend and public holiday coverage by participating in section rosters/shifts and shipkeeps when required Participate in the Brisbane Liaison Officers roster when required. Participate in marine pollution training and response and form part of the First Strike Response Team. Participate in tasks set in other ports or areas and on other vessels. Carry out yard duties performing general maintenance and repairs including driving tasks and any other tasks required.
