Auxiliary firefighters are integral members of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service. They provide an efficient and effective service to Queensland communities in the preservation of life, property and the environment.  Their duties include structural and environmental fires, motor vehicle entrapment, chemical spills, technical rescue, building compliance inspections and community education.  Anybody can become an auxiliary firefighter within their local community provided they: Are healthy & active Hold Australian Resident status Want to help their community Live or work within 5 minutes of the fire station Have or be willing to obtain a Medium Rigid licence Enjoy working in a team environment Are keen to participate in ongoing training and development Are able to respond to emergency incidents Most Auxiliary Firefighters hold regular jobs however they are unique in that they can be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.  There are no set hours for work and employment is on a “call when needed” basis.  Regularly scheduled training will be part of your paid role as an Auxiliary Firefighter.
