Reporting directly to the Project Director, the successful candidate will: · Have a degree as either a chemical, mechanical or process engineer. · Have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of applicable experience (ideally within a mining environment). · Be comfortable with standard computing tools. · Be familiar with 3D drafting tools. · Conducting commercial negotiations, including a proven ability to assist with project delivery. Further, the successful candidate will demonstrate well developed skills in completing the following tasks: · Coordinating daily reporting across project activities, including collation, review and interpretation. · Providing coverage and support to intermediate and senior engineers as required. · Preparing contract invoices for review and approval. · Maintaining project status documentation for review and submission to clients. Yandicoogina is a fly in fly out operation located approximately 184km northwest of Newman, in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. Facilities at the mine's campsite include a gymnasium, indoor cricket pitch, swimming pool, tennis facilities, golf putting green squash courts, wet mess, dry mess and laundry facilities.
An opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Planning and Engineering team. As part of the Yandicoogina Operations this role requires a dynamic individual to be actively involved in the execution of maintenance, reliability and sustaining capital work. With the planned expansion of Junction South East and Junction South West including a brand new wet processing plant, you will be required to provide operational input for these projects. Reporting to the Planning and Engineering Superintendent, your key accountabilities include:
Demonstrating a proven commitment to achieving a workplace target of zero injuries and incidents.
Managing work priorities on critical, high value assets, and providing technical support to members of the Maintenance Planning and execution teams.
Effectively manage maintenance improvement projects as identified or allocated.
Identifying and managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations.
Provide technical support for plant asset risk management program
Provide advisory support for Maintenance quality standards
Undertake equipment failure investigations and implement recommendations from Root Cause Analysis Investigations
Ensure that all activities are conducted within the Rio Tinto Iron Ore Safety Standards
Fostering a culture of continuous improvement especially on fixed plant asset performance
Tertiary qualified in Mechanical Engineering, you will have strong skills and experience covering preventative maintenance, data analysis, project management and problem solving underpinned by a genuine commitment to achieving and improving results in a safe manner.
A strong customer focus and the ability to plan, prioritise and champion your work will be critical in ensuring our safety, quality, production and cost targets are met. You will also be a team player with a positive attitude.

Do you have significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor with exposure to working on major Australian construction projects? Are you interested in working for a large and reputable company who are open to new ideas which encourage efficiencies in the way we do business?
Due to an increasing number of projects, we are looking to employ a Senior Quantity Surveyor to supervise, develop and implement project cost controls, tracking progress, forecasting and tracking costs against budget. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will form part of a diverse and dynamic team who will work on a range of major projects in the North Western region of Western Australia.
Utilising your strong communication skills, you will liaise on a daily basis with Project Managers, clients and subcontractors to achieve the project budgets.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Supervising and mentoring Cost Controllers as to Downer's cost control standards.
Plan and deliver cost control reports and cost analysis.
Produce and publish weekly progress, analysis, cost and monthly financial reports.
Assure verification of cost coding - time sheets, purchase orders etc.
Review, update and maintain event registers, weekly progress, productivity and manpower charts & curves.
Ensure alignment with scheduling (current budget hours used).
Attend project meetings.
Forecasting costs, both direct and indirect, including labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors.
Monitor project progress, manpower and productivity by discipline.
As the successful candidate for this role, you will likely hold a Bachelor of Engineering or Business along with a significant level of experience working on major Australian construction projects. You will have exposure to site work, where you have worked as a Cost Engineer for a construction contracting company dealing with margins, profits and contractor management. As the ideal candidate, you will portray a high level of attention to detail along with strong problem solving skills. You will work autonomously and demonstrate flexibility as you adapt to changing deadlines and business demands.
